Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and motivate the team to achieve high performance
- Ensure corporate and departmental practices are understood and implemented
- Manage budgets and projects with effective cost management and prioritisation
- Monitor and evaluate team performance, recommending improvements
- Provide coaching and support for staff development
- Recommend service improvements based on data and information
- Communicate effectively with elected members and stakeholders
- Collaborate constructively with partner organisations and internal colleagues
- Build a culture of trust within the team
- Lead on all traffic engineering matters
- Act as the Council's lead technical specialist for traffic engineering
- Review and sign off Road Safety Audits (RSAs) in compliance with national standards
- Review and approve Traffic Orders, ensuring legal accuracy
- Provide expertise on complex traffic engineering and safety schemes
Job Requirements:
- Experience in traffic and highways engineering
- Strong understanding of traffic engineering principles and practices
- Proficiency in managing budgets and projects
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to provide expert input on road safety and traffic orders
- Experience in overseeing road safety audits and compliance
- Capability to manage and develop a team effectively
- Relevant degree or equivalent qualification in engineering or a related field
