Key Responsibilities

The Senior CSA Estimator will lead the Civil, Structural, and Architectural estimating function across a variety of complex and large-scale tenders, ensuring maximum accuracy throughout the pre-construction phase.

Specific duties include:

  • Leading the CSA estimating process, accurately preparing costs based on detailed project drawings and specifications.

  • Managing quantities and producing comprehensive pricing documents (Bills of Quantities or similar).

  • Spearheading the process of securing detailed pricing from a network of Irish and European subcontractors and suppliers.

  • Conducting in-depth data analysis for benchmarking and providing robust justification for subcontractor and supplier selections.

  • Assisting with the ongoing maintenance and refinement of the cost database.

  • Formally presenting the final estimate to the Estimating Director and the Board of Directors.

  • Proactively engaging with and building strong relationships with key vendors, including subcontractors, suppliers, and engineers.

  • Remaining fully informed of all relevant industry trends, market developments, and pricing benchmarks.

  • Taking the lead in the continuous development of departmental procedures and quality assurance standards.

  • Mentoring, guiding, and developing a high-performing team of junior estimators.

  • Ensuring a fully coordinated tender submission through proactive collaboration with Mechanical and Electrical Estimators.

  • Upholding the company's stringent safety standards.

  • A strong ability to identify and mitigate potential financial or programme risks associated with a project.


Skills & Qualifications

  • A minimum of eight years' relevant experience in an estimating role, specifically working on large-scale construction projects.

  • A strong professional background in Civil, Structural, and Architectural (CSA) engineering or relevant proven previous trade experience.

  • Demonstrable previous experience managing or leading a team of estimators.

  • Ability to produce detailed reports for senior management regarding bids and monthly meetings.

  • Working knowledge of FIDIC contracts is beneficial.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, along with expertise in at least one widely used Quantity Surveying (QS) software package for Bill of Quantity (BQ) production (e.g., Buildsoft or CostX).
