Job Title: Analytical Chemist - Natural Products & Chromatography

Location: Onsite
Contract Length: 6 months (minimum)
Hours: 35 hours/week (Monday to Friday)
Pay Rate: £22.77 per hour (PAYE)


About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Analytical Chemist to join our R&D team, supporting advanced analytical workflows in the study of complex organic materials including plant extracts, tobacco blends, and e-liquids. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on expertise in sample preparation, density measurements, titration methods, and chromatography techniques.

You'll work in a modern laboratory equipped with state-of-the-art chromatographic and extraction technologies, contributing directly to key projects through analytical support, method development, and collaboration with internal teams and external partners.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct analytical testing using techniques such as HPLC, TLC, and titration (including Karl Fischer and acid-base).

  • Prepare and analyze samples from complex organic matrices.

  • Support chromatography workflows for key compounds, extracts, and nicotine-based samples.

  • Operate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and software for density measurements and titrations.

  • Assist the Lab Manager with routine operations including safety compliance, inventory, purchasing, and supplier coordination.

  • Engage with cross-functional project teams and research collaborators to deliver technical insights.


Required Skills & Experience

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.

  • Proven laboratory experience in:

    • Sample preparation and density measurements

    • Karl Fischer and other titration techniques

    • Chromatographic methods (HPLC, TLC)

  • Familiarity with natural product chemistry and extraction/fractionation processes.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot instrumentation and methods.

  • Excellent communication skills to present findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
