About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and reliable Semi-Skilled Operative to support the day-to-day running of the shipyard at BAE Systems Submarines. You will carry out a variety of semi-skilled tasks to ensure the cleanliness, care, and protection of vessels and their equipment, while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct varied semi-skilled work, including cleaning, maintenance, and support activities across vessels and shipyard areas.
Select, prepare, and handle consumables, materials, and equipment safely and efficiently.
Attend daily toolbox talks and complete risk assessments before starting any task.
Support engineering operations and lifting of loads as required.
Follow all SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) and quality compliance standards.
Report hazards or incidents promptly and use all equipment correctly.
Skills and Experience
Ability to work in confined spaces.
Able to read and interpret engineering drawings.
Experience using sewing machines (desirable).
Knowledge of Health & Safety, COSHH, and risk assessments beneficial.
Previous experience in manufacturing or engineering environments preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Qualifications
Desirable: Level 2 NVQ in Thermal Insulation Fit Protection or equivalent.
Essential: Ability to meet baseline security clearance requirements (BPSS).
