Systems Engineer (MATLAB)

6-month contract
Mostly remote, onsite nr Reading when required
Flexible hourly rate, inside IR35
SC required

Our client, a leading company in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a MATLAB - Systems Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. This hybrid role offers the flexibility of UK-wide travel as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Training Solution Delivery Lead to define work packages and technical requirements.
  • Execute and deliver key work packages individually.
  • Undertake activities associated with product specification and qualification.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to procure and implement advanced training devices.
  • Contribute to problem resolution and help improve planned system operations.
  • Create and maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Support and complete bid responses at Pre-Qualifying (PQQ) and Tender (ITN) stages.
  • Conduct systems analysis and design work.
  • Participate in technical design reviews, oversight and governance.
  • Support customer questions and requests.

Job Requirements:


Essential:

  • A relevant degree or equivalent training with significant experience in systems engineering.
  • Strong experience in systems engineering, ideally covering all sections of the V-model.
  • Experience with systems engineering technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques.
  • Experience in writing scopes of work and acceptance criteria.
  • Knowledge of the development of Systems of Systems.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, multi-discipline environment to produce deliverable products.
  • Experience with Atlassian suite, including Jira, Confluence, Dimension RM, and DOORS.
  • Hands-on experience with configuration management tools.
  • Able to obtain security clearance if not already held.
  • Valid driving licence.


Desirable:

  • Experience with training devices.
  • Experience in an Agile, SCRUM, or DevOps delivery model.
  • Awareness of NAFv4 and/or TOGAF.

Work Culture:

  • 37-hour work week, though hours may vary based on role and requirements
  • Early 1:30 pm finish on Fridays
