Our client, a reputable organisation within the Highways sector, is currently seeking a Assistant/Traffic Design Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. This role is based in a South London Borough and focuses on the design and implementation of traffic schemes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Designing and drafting traffic schemes, including road markings, traffic signs, and signal layouts
- Producing detailed plans and technical drawings for various traffic management projects
- Conducting site assessments and surveys to gather necessary data for design
- Collaborating with engineers, planners, and other stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery
- Reviewing and ensuring compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and guidelines
- Preparing reports and providing technical support to project teams
- Assisting in public consultations to gather community feedback on proposed traffic schemes
- Monitoring the implementation of traffic schemes to ensure adherence to designs
Job Requirements:
- Experience in traffic engineering or a related technical field
- Strong knowledge of traffic scheme design principles and relevant software
- Proficiency in using AutoCAD or similar design tools
- Understanding of current Highways standards and regulations
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Relevant technical qualification or equivalent experience
