The Role

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be contributing to the further development of our capabilities in Software & Systems Engineering whilst helping to mainting the UK's frontline capability.

This role will provide you with the chance to design exciting new products in a fast paced highly skilled team, whilst maintaining high standards of innovation and creativity. You will have the opportunity to work within a role where no two days are the same, as well as the chance for excellent career progression opportunities within the team, as well as the wider business. You will gain exposure to all stages of the product lifecycle, whilst working across complex and interesting programmes.

Role Responsibilities:

Not limited to...

  • Designing embedded software solutions to meet allocated requirements
  • Software coding to implement agreed designs
  • Undertaking testing and verification activities
  • Ensuring software development standards, policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Scheduling work to meet target timescales and budget demands
  • Working closely with other teams, e.g. electrical, during solution development
  • Proactively reporting upwards to management and the business, so that they are informed of the work currently in development

What are BAE Systems looking for from you?

  • Embedded C programming ability and experience in other modern programming languages, preferably C#.
  • Understanding of embedded systems concepts and related protocols, e.g. CAN, SPI, RS-422.
  • A thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle from design to deployment, including supporting in house and customer trials
  • Familiarity with PLM tools (TeamCenter) and the links to the ERP system (SAP)
  • Good understanding of the engineering 'V' model
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools; Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project

Security Requirments: SC, ITAR & UK EYES ONLY

This role will require the person to hold full Security Clearance (SC) prior to working onsite. You will need to obtain a BPSS check as part of this process. You must currently hold or be eligible and willing to obtain SC. In addition, this role involves direct and/or indirect access to ITAR Material which means there are restriction. This role also requires you to be a sole British national and therefore hold no other nationalities.
