Project Overview:

The Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) is a major infrastructure programme aimed at transforming the railway between Manchester and York via Huddersfield and Leeds. The programme will deliver faster, greener, and more reliable services, with significant investment in electrification, track upgrades, signalling, and station improvements.

Role Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team on the TRU programme, based in Leeds. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing commercial aspects of the project, ensuring cost control, contract compliance, and value delivery across multiple work packages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead commercial management of allocated packages within the TRU programme.
  • Administer NEC3/NEC4 contracts, including compensation events, early warnings, and change control.
  • Prepare and manage cost reports, forecasts, and valuations.
  • Support procurement activities including tender evaluations and contract negotiations.
  • Liaise with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting.
  • Manage subcontractor accounts, including interim payments and final accounts.
  • Provide commercial input into risk management and mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with client and statutory requirements.

Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
  • Proven experience in rail infrastructure projects, ideally within Network Rail frameworks.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in commercial software (e.g., CEMAR, Oracle, Excel).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Chartered status (MRICS) desirable but not essential.
