Our client, a leading engineering and environmental consultancy, is seeking an experienced Senior or Principal Hydraulic Modeller / Flood Risk Consultant to support ongoing UK infrastructure and water environment projects on a freelance basis.
This role will suit someone with strong technical expertise in InfoWorks ICM who can take ownership of complex drainage and flood modelling tasks, lead project delivery, and guide junior modellers. You'll be central to delivering sustainable drainage (SuDS) and 3D drainage network modelling work across a variety of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the delivery of complex hydraulic modelling and flood risk projects
- Develop and implement sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) designs
- Conduct 3D drainage network modelling using InfoWorks ICM
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior modellers
- Prepare detailed technical reports and documentation
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project success
- Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders to manage expectations
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations
Job Requirements:
- Strong technical expertise in hydraulic modelling, particularly using InfoWorks ICM
- Experience in flood risk assessment and drainage design
- Understanding of sustainable drainage systems (SuDS)
- Proficiency in 3D drainage network modelling
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and report-writing abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Relevant degree in civil engineering or related discipline
