We are currently recruiting 2 Skilled Painters to join our aerospace site in Hamble, Southampton on late shift.

Rates

  • Late Shift (20% uplift): £35.66/hour (Umbrella)

Working Hours

  • Late Shift: 14:15-22:30 (Monday-Thursday) / 12:00-18:00 (Friday)

Role Overview
As a Skilled Painter, you'll support the delivery of high-quality metallic and composite aircraft components and assemblies, working to local manufacturing instructions and specifications. You will work with minimal supervision, taking responsibility for the quality and accuracy of your work while contributing to a safety-focused, collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Masking components according to technical drawings and plans

  • Mixing and applying specialist fillers and paint schemes (primer, topcoat, anti-abrasion, gloss)

  • Manual abrading and orbital sanding

  • Edge sealing and resin application

  • Operating curing booths and monitoring cure cycles

  • Conducting quality checks using tape, isoscope, and gloss measurements

Additional Responsibilities

  • Health & Safety: Promote a safe, clean, and organised work environment. Adhere to EHS policies and report incidents as required.

  • Quality: Maintain high-quality standards and compliance with technical instructions.

  • Clocking & Booking: Accurately record time and job costings.

  • Cost Management: Support cost-reduction initiatives through efficient, waste-minimising practices.

  • Knowledge & Skills: Keep training up to date and maintain approved operator stamps where applicable.

  • Teamwork: Participate in meetings, support colleagues, and assist with training and knowledge sharing.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and contribute to improvements in safety, quality, cost, and delivery processes.

Essential Requirements

  • Time-served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a recognised allied trade

  • Strong numeracy, literacy, and ability to interpret technical documentation

  • Excellent dexterity and attention to detail

  • Working knowledge of Health & Safety requirements

  • Positive, proactive attitude with strong problem-solving skills

  • Flexible and adaptable approach with a willingness to learn

  • Strong timekeeping and work ethic

  • Working understanding of 5S and lean manufacturing principles

  • Good communication skills

  • Competency in relevant departmental skill codes

  • Basic IT literacy

Desirable

  • Previous paint application experience within aerospace or a manufacturing environment
