We are supporting our client in the search for a Highways Safety Inspector on a 3-month contract basis. This position is based in Essex and will require travel around the region for site visits. The role involves conducting highways safety inspections of unadopted roads and footpaths.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out inspections on built assets and infrastructure, including unadopted highway and drainage networks
- Maintain records of the condition of Council-owned built assets and infrastructure
- Complete accurate records of inspections to identify defective areas as per the schedule
- Prepare necessary documentation for monitoring and recording infrastructure condition
- Carry out post-inspections of repair works to monitor standards and quality
- Assist with identifying future work programmes as appropriate
- Collate information related to the condition of assets, particularly regarding public complaints or claims
- Respond to day-to-day requests for information and service requests
- Meet with residents to discuss issues and provide advice on standards
- Inspect empty properties periodically in line with council insurance conditions
- Assist with the management and compliance with insurance processes
- Attend sites following reports of damage to ensure emergency works are carried out
Job Requirements:
- Qualified in Highway Safety Inspection - C & G 6033 Units 301 & 311 (or similar qualifications)
- Ability to use a personal vehicle for site visits
- Reasonable physical fitness as some assessments will be walked
- PPE and data collecting equipment provided by Harlow Council
