Our client, a leader in the construction sector, is currently seeking a highly capable Project Engineer - Structures to support the Project Manager in delivering various projects at Stansted Airport. This is a contract role with an initial 6-month duration, operating within IR35 regulations. The role requires a robust structural engineering background, particularly with steel frame buildings, bridges, and heavy lifting operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the Project Manager's representative on site, providing daily oversight and technical input.
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and programme schedules.
- Identify and report defects and non-conformances; track and manage close-out actions.
- Review and accept contractor permit submissions.
- Coordinate with Construction Managers and assist in resolving site blockers.
- Liaise with stakeholders to ensure operational alignment.
- Validate contractor-reported progress and highlight discrepancies.
- Provide technical expertise on construction methodologies and techniques.
- Review RAMS, Construction Phase Plans, CEMP, and other contractor documentation.
- Advise on potential Early Warning Notices (EWNs) and Compensation Events (CEs), and support validation of contractor claims.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in structural works, especially steel frame construction and bridge engineering.
- Familiarity with heavy lifting operations and associated safety protocols.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
- Ability to work on-site at Stansted Airport up to three days per week.
