Our client BAE Systems, a leading organisation in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a Production Support Administrator to join their team in Portsmouth on an 8-month contract. This role is fully on-site at the POrtsmouth Naval Base and offers the opportunity to support critical production planning operations within a dynamic and highly respected business unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with all stakeholders to gather relevant information for production planners and facilitate planning activities.
  • Ensure all pre-requisites are met to progress Service Orders from the Yellow Board to the Green board on the Work Management Tool.
  • Extract and attach third-party documents such as Wind Chill and IETM to relevant Service Orders.
  • Create comprehensive work packs for production, including printing drawings, documents, and reference material.
  • Verify that work instructions have the correct pre-requisites, document references, and instructions to complete tasks.
  • Generate work-specific Production Reports with all required information for the Production Team.
  • Assist the Planning Team with various tasks as directed by the Planning Operations Manager.
  • Address and resolve issues related to the Red Board and Pink board, such as missing information or advancing issues to the correct board.
  • Create and maintain work scope spreadsheets with guidance.
  • Raise Change Request Notifications as directed.

Job Requirements:

  • Proficiency in administrative tasks and PC literacy, particularly in Microsoft Excel/Access.
  • Experience using an ERP system independently for planning roles.
  • Logical, analytical, and structured problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivation and ability to manage tasks efficiently within set timeframes with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to support team members and monitor progress against targets.
  • Awareness of general Health & Safety and environmental regulations and safe working practices.
  • Strong understanding of document control, including ITAR regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills for internal and external stakeholder engagement.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Maintain a close relationship with Production Planners to continuously improve planning and estimating norms.
  • Train new starters and apprentices as necessary.
  • Ensure pre-requisites are advanced to allow production to deliver according to the schedule.
  • Possess good knowledge of the warship business.
