The Role
To support the BAE Systems Land business, an opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the existing Infrastructure Category team, with a specific requirement to support projects at Glascoed (S.Wales), as a Senior Buyer. The successful candidate will be required to manage the end-to-end procurement process of Plant & Equipment projects primarily for our manufacturing and R&D processes.
Typically, this will require the buyer to work with multiple stakeholders including engineers, budget holders, SMEs, external suppliers, contractors and consultancies in order to devise and execute a suitable procurement strategy & implement contractual terms.
Role Responsibilities:

- Corroborate the commercial and procurement aspects of business cases for proposed investments
- Advise on potential procurement strategies and contracting routes (in conjunction with our professional advisors where necessary)
- Prepare & maintain Procurement Plans
- Attend & support Project Reviews
- Assist suppliers to register & use e-RFX systems
- Provide commercial advice on scopes of work & schedules of service (prepared by others)
- Prepare & collate RFP / RFQ & ITT packs
- Develop assessment criteria to be utilised to select the successful bid
- Issue tenders using e-RFX systems
- Ensure tenders are run in accordance with the appropriate governance guidelines - to be determined on a case by case but will address IPS and business unit requirements
- Provide commercial assistance to the customer and supplier during the tender period
- Respond to tender queries as received from bidders to the PM, in the event that the PM deems a response from IPS is required
What are BAE Systems looking for from you?
CIPS certified
Familiar with T&Cs of contracts and purchase orders
Excellent stakeholder management
Customer service experience
5-7 years of buying experience ideally (Logistics background isn't suitable)
Security Requirements: BPSS only
This role requires you to obtain a basic disclosure along with employment reference checks before starting.
