B1.3 Type Training Instructor / Examiner

The Role
An opportunity has arisen for a Part-147 Aircraft Engineering B1.3 Mechanical Instructor / Examiner / Practical Assessor to join the training team.
This role involves delivering type training (theoretical and practical), conducting examinations and assessments in accordance with CAA and EASA Part-66/Part-147 regulations, and supporting training quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver theoretical and practical type training within your qualification scope.
- Act as Theoretical Examiner and Practical Assessor per CAA/EASA Part-66 & Part-147 standards.
- Develop and maintain examination question banks and course materials.
- Conduct and invigilate examinations, ensuring integrity and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure departmental adherence to company training and engineering procedures.
- Coordinate examination timetables and deputise for the Training Manager when required.
- Travel within the UK and overseas to deliver or receive training as necessary.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential:
Practical experience with the following aircraft and engines:
Airbus Helicopters EC135 (all variants)
MBB BK117-D2 and BK117-C2
SAFRAN Arrius 2B, Arriel 2E, and PWC PW206 engines
Experience gained in a civil aviation or equivalent environment (maintenance, engineering, or design organisation).
In-depth understanding of CAA/EASA regulations (CAP1528, CAP1529, UG.CAO.00154-002).
Experience as a Theoretical Examiner and Practical Assessor.
Strong ability to design and deliver training content (aircraft type, engine, familiarisation, and differences courses).
Desirable:
Familiarity with Google Suite (GMeet, Docs, Presentations).
Experience with synthetic training devices and distance learning.
Previous experience within a Part-147 civil training organisation.
Knowledge of EASA UG.CAO.00169.
Education & Qualifications
Essential:
Hold a Part-147 B1 Type Certificate of Recognition for:
Eurocopter MBB BK117-C2 and BK117-D2 (D2/D3 models), Turbomeca Arriel 2E (MBB-BK117-D), EC135T / EC135P, Airbus EC135T3H / EC135P3H, Turbomeca Arrius 2B (EC135T/EC135T3H) & PWC PW206 (EC135P/EC135P3H)
Hold an Instructor Certificate issued by an authority recognised by the national regulator.
Must be eligible for DBS and Security Check (SC) clearance.
Desirable:
Hold a CAA B1.3 licence for the aircraft types instructed.
