Our client, a prominent engineering and maintenance provider within the energy sector, is seeking an experienced Senior Planner to join their dynamic team based at the Puma project site in Hull. This is a permanent role offering the chance to contribute to large-scale projects in a variety of sectors, including chemical and petrochemical, nuclear, oil & gas, pharmaceuticals, power & energy, utilities, renewables, and food & beverage markets.
Job Requirements:
- Proficiency in P6 and ERP systems, including SAP.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with strong analytical capabilities.
- Experience in a leadership role within project controls.
- A degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related fields, complemented by significant experience in Construction Management and Credentials such as ICostE, CEng, or IEng.
- Familiarity with estimating software, and PMO experience is desirable.
- Knowledge and proficiency in PowerBI and MS tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage effective project control strategies, maintaining the project controls plan and associated procedures.
- Ensure project schedules, including resource loading, critical path analysis, and progress monitoring, are adopted across all projects.
- Collaborate with commercial managers, project managers, and engineers to achieve project objectives within scope, schedule, and budget constraints.
- Establish systems to monitor, control, and report costs.
- Aid in the development, integration, and optimisation of project programmes.
- Manage the provision of appropriate resources and expertise for successful project control activities.
- Identify project risks and associated control measures to mitigate them.
- Oversee the update of business processes and reporting systems through to project closure.
Specific Activities:
- Review and issue all cost/planning information required for Monthly Project Board meetings.
- Lead Project Control Meetings.
- Ensure robust monthly updates to project risk registers and value analysis processes are in place.
- Manage the integration of programmes from various sources.
- Implement progress monitoring and productivity measurement techniques.
- Define and issue the project work breakdown structure and estimating formats.
- Monitor expenditure and make budget adjustments in accordance with the project change control system.
