Geotechnical Engineer

  • £28000 - £32000 per annum + + package
  • Manchester, England
  • Permanent

An opportunity has arisen for a Geotechnical / Geo-Environmental Engineer to join a well-established ground investigation and consultancy practice based in Manchester.

We are seeking an engineer with a bachelor's or master's degree in engineering geology, geotechnical engineering, applied geology, or civil engineering with geotechnical content. Ideally, you will have between one and five years of relevant experience, though candidates with less than a year of experience who have completed relevant placements are also encouraged to apply.

About the Role

You'll be part of a busy, collaborative team in our main Hertfordshire office. The position involves:

  • Supervising ground investigations on site

  • Preparing interpretive reports and geotechnical analyses

  • Scoping and pricing new work

  • Liaising directly with clients

You'll have the chance to join our graduate training and mentoring programme, with structured seminars and the option to work towards Chartership. Regular CPD sessions and external events are also supported.

Our work spans ground investigations, geotechnical design, and contaminated land assessment. We deliver detailed interpretive reporting on every project, so this role suits someone who enjoys both hands-on site work and office-based technical analysis. You'll take responsibility for your own projects early in your career with guidance from experienced engineers. While experience in geotechnical assessments or numerical modelling is advantageous, full training will be provided.
