Our client, a global leader in the aerospace sector, is currently seeking a Principal Performance & Dynamics Engineer to join their Performance & Dynamics team under the Systems Integration & Test department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a technical expert for the Performance & Dynamics (P&D) team, providing high-level technical guidance.
  • Participate in the Safran Landing Systems Experts Network, sharing best practices across the group.
  • Influence and guide industry standards by working closely with specific industry bodies, which may require global travel.
  • Mentor and coach the wider P&D team, sharing technical knowledge and expertise.
  • Maintain technical decision-making responsibility for relevant and assigned programs or projects.
  • Provide solutions to technical problems within P&D.
  • Serve as Airworthiness technical signatory for the P&D domain.
  • Build computational models and run simulations.
  • Support technical audits and calculate static and dynamic loads.
  • Conduct performance, frequency response, stability, shimmy, modal, and failure case analyses.
  • Correlate and validate computational models, and write and validate performance and dynamics requirements.
  • Define and document simulation cases and pass/fail criteria.
  • Optimise design solutions in collaboration with other engineering disciplines.
  • Define test requirements and analyse and interpret test results, ensuring adherence to programme schedules.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in landing gear structures and systems.
  • Proficiency in dynamic analysis and computational modelling and simulation.
  • Experience with model correlation and validation.
  • Knowledge of airworthiness requirements and certification for landing gear and equipment.
  • Proficient in using MATLAB/Simulink, MSC ADAMS, and AMESim.
  • Proficiency in coding, with experience in languages such as Python.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with all engineering disciplines and external suppliers.
  • Strong coaching, communication, and technical leadership skills.
  • Excellent decision-making and technical problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of HNC level in an engineering discipline with relevant experience.
