Helicopter Flight Instructor - My Client (UK ATO)

Location: Gloucestershire Airport (EGBJ), South West UK

My client, a well-established UK Approved Training Organisation (ATO), is seeking an experienced and motivated Helicopter Flight Instructor (FI[H]) to join their professional training team. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of Integrated and Modular PPL(H) and CPL(H) programmes, supporting both self-sponsored students and industry cadets.

The Role

The Helicopter Flight Instructor will deliver flight and ground instruction on single-engine helicopters (R22/R44) and, where suitably qualified, multi-engine types (AW109E). The role involves maintaining the highest instructional and compliance standards under CAA Part-FCL and ATO requirements, working closely with the Head of Training and other senior personnel.

The successful candidate will play an integral role in shaping the next generation of professional helicopter pilots while maintaining an active flying and instructional profile.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver flight and ground instruction across PPL(H), CPL(H), and integrated courses

  • Ensure instructional delivery and records fully comply with CAA Part-FCL and ATO standards

  • Conduct flight training, progress checks, and (where qualified) CPL(H) skill tests and proficiency checks

  • Mentor and support junior instructors, assisting in their ongoing development

  • Collaborate with the Head of Training, CTKI, and FSTD Manager to enhance training syllabi and course delivery


Candidate Profile

  • Current FI(H) with substantial single-engine instructional experience

  • FE(H) (CPL preferred) or interest in progression to TRI(H)/TRE(H)

  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and inspire students and colleagues

  • Sound understanding of CAA regulatory and compliance frameworks

  • Experience within an integrated or modular ATO environment
