Our client, a prominent player in the rail industry, is currently seeking a PTS Engineer to join their team on a long-term contract based in Glasgow. This role is primarily focused on setting out, with a significant emphasis on rail civils work including lineside civils, earthworks, and piling. The contract is outside IR35, providing an excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional with a strong background in rail and civils engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and project plans.
- Plan day-to-day site activities, resources, and timelines.
- Coordinate with project managers, designers, subcontractors, and Network Rail (or equivalent authority).
- Ensure materials, equipment, and workforce are available as scheduled.
- Conduct inspections and quality checks on materials and workmanship.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, test results, and compliance reports.
- Identify and resolve technical issues or deviations from design.
- Maintain daily site records, progress reports, and as-built documentation.
- Prepare site diaries, measurements, and progress updates for management and clients.
- Assist with handover documentation and completion certificates.
Job Requirements:
- Experience in site engineering and PTS civils.
- Previous rail civils background.
- Proficiency in lineside civils works, earthworks, and piling.
- Hold PTS/Sentinel certification; COSS preferred but not essential.
- SSSTS/SMSTS certification required.
- HNC/HND or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
- Speed Raising/Track Handback Ticket preferred but not essential.
- Must have own transport.
