Our client, a leader in rail infrastructure, is currently seeking a Project Engineer to join their team based in the North West on a long-term contract basis. This position is outside IR35 and offers the opportunity to assist in the delivery of engineering packages on rail projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Project Manager and management team to monitor progress and ensure that development, design, construction, testing, and financial targets are met, implementing remedial actions where necessary.
- Ensure technical standards are maintained in all aspects of signalling project work for safe and successful project implementation and future reliability.
- Participate in and monitor the planning and progress of works in relation to timeline and budget, implementing remedial actions when required.
- Act as the Project Manager's engineering representative on projects when needed.
- Assist in forecasting the overall engineering resources and key skills necessary for allocated projects to ensure timely provision.
- Evaluate the quality and technical accuracy of tenders, making recommendations for the best commercial awards.
- Maintain continuous communication with contractors and customers to ensure uniformity of purpose and common targets.
- Coordinate the engineering activities of sub-contractors.
- Review and assess the engineering aspects of project changes.
- Perform duties as directed by senior management and complete mandatory training courses defined by the business.
- Demonstrate engineering excellence through innovative thinking and adoption of new processes and methods of working.
- Ensure safe working practices on the railway and awareness of Network Rail standards and design approvals process.
- Assist with the planning of engineering works and compilation of H&S File requirements and documentation trackers for projects.
- Provide attendance and input at project meetings as required.
- Manage integration of small packages of works within allocated projects.
Job Requirements:
- Experience in signalling project engineering.
- Appreciation of design, construction, testing, and possession planning.
- IRSE Assistant Designer/Test Licence.
- Working towards IRE Licence 7.8.110F.
- Possession of PTS/Sentinel.
- COSS preferred.
- UK driving licence.
