Quality Inspector

📍 Location: Hedge End
🕒 Contract: Full-time
Hours: 7am - 3pm or 8am - 4pm (Monday to Friday)

About the Role

We're looking for a Goods-In Quality Inspector to take ownership of incoming part and component quality within our supply chain. Acting as the key contact for supplier quality management, you'll play a vital role in ensuring that all materials meet required standards-helping us maintain our commitment to excellence and continuity of supply for our customers.

What You'll Do

  • Inspect and test incoming materials and components to ensure compliance with quality and technical specifications.
  • Record and maintain accurate quality control data and inspection results.
  • Support the First Article Inspection (FAI) process by assessing sample parts.
  • Manage the Goods-In Inspection area, ensuring proper segregation of inspected and defective materials.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Production, Purchasing, and Stores teams to resolve quality issues quickly and effectively.
  • Liaise with suppliers regarding open returns and non-conformances.
  • Support Supplier Quality Engineers with return-to-supplier processes.
  • Maintain equipment calibration and ensure inspection tools meet safety and accuracy standards.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills for data reporting and measurement.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Practical problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Comfortable working on your feet and managing multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Confluence, and Jira.

Desirable:

  • Experience in machined sub-component manufacture or optical/electronic components.
  • Exposure to Lean manufacturing tools (e.g., Standard Work, Flow Mapping, VSM).
  • Familiarity with WinMan ERP and cross-site collaboration

This position is initially for a period of 6 months but with a strong likelihood of extension for the right person dependent upon work volumes.

Pay:

£15.85 per hour (PAYE)
