Our client, a respected consultancy in the transport and infrastructure sector, is currently seeking a Senior Transport Planner to join their Birmingham team on a permanent basis.

About the Role


This position offers a fantastic opportunity to be involved in a range of development planning and transport projects within both the private and public sectors. You will manage day-to-day project delivery, liaise directly with clients and local authorities, and mentor junior colleagues within a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and deliver a range of transport planning projects from inception to completion
  • Prepare and review Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, and Travel Plans
  • Liaise with clients, multidisciplinary design teams, and local planning/highway authorities
  • Undertake site visits and assess development layouts for access, parking, and transport facilities
  • Provide concept highway design support using AutoCAD and vehicle tracking software
  • Analyse and interpret traffic and transport data to inform project decisions
  • Ensure all deliverables meet quality and client standards

Skills & Experience:

  • Proficient in ARCADY, PICADY (Junctions 10), and familiar with LINSIG
  • Experienced in AutoCAD and ideally vehicle tracking applications
  • Strong understanding of TRICS and industry-standard transport modelling tools
  • Knowledge of DMRB and Manual for Streets (MfS) design guidance
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, or a related discipline
  • Experience in transport planning and development planning
  • Demonstrable experience in project management and client liaison
  • Chartered or working towards CIHT, TPS, or ICE professional membership (desirable)
