Our client, a reputable entity in the nuclear sector, is seeking an experienced Senior EC&I Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. This role requires DV Clearance and is integral to delivering high-quality engineering solutions within the nuclear industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production of EC&I design concepts, including Single Line Diagrams (SLD's), Block Cable Diagrams (BCD's), cable schedules, and layouts.
  • Knowledge of control system hardware and software.
  • Experience in Functional Safety (BSEN 61508 & 61511).
  • Ensuring designs conform to relevant British and European standards and client requirements.
  • Maintaining an LTQR / Technical File in accordance with quality management systems.
  • Addressing operability, maintainability, and safety issues in designs.
  • Producing designs within project programmes and budgets.
  • Creating design justification reports that mitigate identified technical risks.
  • Generating functional safety and controls design documentation including FDS, SIDD, and Functional Safety Plan.
  • Providing detailed information (drawings, specifications, work instructions) for manufacturing.
  • Checking in-house and subcontract drawing documentation.
  • Producing EC&I technical specifications and commissioning documentation, e.g., FAT and SAT.
  • Managing subcontract suppliers and attending/witnessing commissioning activities.
  • Interpreting and creating EC&I engineering drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Experience in EC&I design and safety interlock design preferred.
  • Authoring engineering reports such as basis of design, substantiation report, and calculation reports.
  • HVAC control systems experience is highly desirable.

Technical Competency:

  • Ensuring personal, professional, technical, and engineering competency through continuous professional development.
  • Understanding technical aspects of projects to develop design and engineering solutions with internal specialists or external support.
  • Consolidating and collating design and engineering documentation for internal approvals and client presentation.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant Engineering Degree, HNC, or demonstrable equivalent experience.
  • IOSH Managing Safely or Level 2 Health & Safety in the Workplace, or equivalent.

Experience & Knowledge:

  • Broad-based engineering experience in design and manufacturing.
  • Experience in the design of electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of low voltage control gear and control systems.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficient user of MS Office.
  • Ability to produce technical reports and documents.
