Our client is seeking a highly motivated Streetworks Manager to join their permanent team. This role demands significant experience in traffic management and street works, with a primary focus on ensuring efficient highway operations and compliance with relevant legislation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team and Staff Management: Lead, supervise, and mentor the Street Works Inspector team, plan resources for peak demand, and promote best practices.
- Compliance and Legislation: Ensure all work complies with legislation such as the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA) and related codes of practice. Monitor permits, identify, and address breaches.
- Contractor and Stakeholder Management: Manage contractors and sub-contractors, build relationships with local authorities, and liaise with stakeholders such as developers and utility companies.
- Traffic and Works Coordination: Coordinate highway works and traffic flow, manage the permitting process, and develop strategies for major events affecting the highway network.
- Quality and Budget Control: Monitor the quality of works, manage budgets, and take corrective action to mitigate costs by challenging defects and other charges where appropriate.
- Reporting and Communication: Communicate effectively with team members, the public, and other organisations. Present findings and strategies to management.
- Health and Safety: Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with health and safety policies. This may require attendance at out-of-hours meetings or emergencies.
Job Requirements:
- Proven experience in a traffic management or street works role
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, such as NRSWA and the Highways Act
- Experience in budget control and managing contractors
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle emergencies and work outside of normal office hours when necessary
