Our client, a prominent player in the Defence & Security sector, is seeking a Contract Manufacturing Engineer to join their team in Derby. This role centres around the enhancement and optimisation of manufacturing processes for high-integrity and safety-critical components used in nuclear programmes, including the UK Submarine programme, existing nuclear generation fleet, decommissioning, and new nuclear establishments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimise manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency and quality
  • Collaborate with design and production teams to ensure product manufacturability
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for manufacturing issues
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations in the nuclear sector
  • Prepare key technical documentation such as process flow diagrams and work instructions
  • Perform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience in the manufacturing sector, ideally within the nuclear industry
  • Knowledge of welding, joining technologies, and non-destructive testing (NDT) requirements
  • Proficiency in CAD and SAP (Systems Applications and Products)
  • Experience in precision fabrication, particularly with nuclear-grade materials
  • Understanding of design codes and industry standards relevant to the nuclear sector (e.g., ASME Section III)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
