Our client, a key player in the Defence & Security sector, is seeking a Requirements & Compliance Specialist for an initial 12-month contract based in Yeovil. This role demands expertise in requirements management throughout the full product lifecycle of training solutions produced within Simulation Learning & Support Systems (SL&SS) UK. The position involves leading the elicitation, definition, recording, tracking, and compliance of requirements, providing oversight to junior specialists and working closely with Test & Evaluation engineers to implement a robust and auditable requirements process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and capture system requirements for training products
  • Liaise with stakeholders to define key user or stakeholder requirements
  • Support design and manufacture by referencing design proposals to the Systems Requirements Specification (SyRS)
  • Ensure requirements placed upon internal or external suppliers include appropriate means of test and compliance
  • Author Integrated Test, Evaluation and Acceptance Plans (ITEAP) and manage requirements-related Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs)
  • Maintain traceability of SyRS requirements to compliance evidence
  • Guide suppliers on training suitability of design solutions and ensure accurate representation of external requirements
  • Employ Requirements Capture tools (such as IBM DOORS) to support compliance declarations
  • Ensure test documentation is sufficient to support compliance demonstration

Role as a Principle Specialist:

  • Supervise and mentor junior Requirement Specialists in systems requirements engineering, requirements elicitation, and use of IBM DOORS
  • Collaborate with the Principle Test & Evaluation Engineer to develop a robust and auditable through-life requirements process
  • Support the creation of System Requirements Specifications for ongoing training bids and proposals
  • Help establish and implement Visure Requirements Management software within SL&SS

General Duties:

  • Travel nationally and internationally as required
  • Ensure activities comply with health, safety, and environmental requirements

Job Requirements:

  • Proficiency in requirements engineering, ideally with IREB Certified Professional for Requirements Engineering (CPRE) Foundation level
  • Experience with IBM Rational DOORS or similar requirements management tools
  • Educational background in engineering or equivalent experience, such as Aircrew or Maintainer Instructor experience
  • Working knowledge of ISO/IEC/IEEE 29148
  • Knowledge of software and hardware testing methodologies
  • Experience with standard system engineering design practices and quality assurance processes
  • Experience in mentoring and developing engineering talent

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of helicopter training and operations, both military and civil
  • Understanding of Civil Simulator Certification standards
  • Familiarity with UK MOD's Acquisition System Guidance
  • Full UK Driving Licence
