Our client, a renowned company in the retail industry, is currently seeking a Specialist Security Engineer to join their team. This is an exciting permanent role where you will play a pivotal part in ensuring the integrity and security of our client's platforms. You will be at the forefront of implementing robust security measures and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to fortify defences against cyber threats.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing strategic guidance for the secure adoption and use of SaaS and PaaS platforms such as those in the Microsoft, Google, and Atlassian ecosystem.
  • Identifying misconfigurations, reducing platform risk, and participating in workshops and documentation efforts to raise organisational awareness of risks and best practices.
  • Supporting the secure design and integration of tools across business programs, including access and configuration reviews.
  • Assisting in identifying and remediating platform-specific vulnerabilities.
  • Automating security checks, configuration reviews, and access hygiene, including security integration into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Collaborating with platform teams and vendors to evaluate and integrate security tools seamlessly across new and existing services.
  • Staying current on emerging platforms and assisting in researching security considerations to support evolving organisational technology needs.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in platform or infrastructure security with a solid interest in building skills in this area.
  • Understanding of Identity and Access security, including least privilege, zero trust, SSO, JWT, and RBAC/ABAC/PBAC principles.
  • Familiarity with security principles and architecture, particularly for databases and APIs.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Bash for task automation.
  • Experience with Terraform and understanding of security threats like DDoS, brute force, exfiltration, spoofing, and other relevant threats.
  • Exposure to or interest in integrating security into CI/CD pipelines and platform workflows, with experience in tools like GitHub Actions being advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a curiosity to learn and grow in complex technology environments.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with platform, DevOps, and security teams.
