Our client, a prominent player in the aerospace sector, is seeking a motivated Trainee Shot Peen Operative to join their aircraft landing gear Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to start a rewarding career in the aviation MRO industry, with a focus on stringent quality, health, and safety standards within a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undergo comprehensive training in the principles of shot peening and grit blasting as well as the operation of relevant equipment
  • Assist experienced operatives in the setup and operation of shot peening machines
  • Learn to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and technical drawings to determine shot peening requirements
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment
  • Work collaboratively with team members to meet production goals and deadlines
  • Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities
  • Maintain a clean workspace, including filter systems and booths
  • Optimise production flow, supplying parts to the plating shop and prioritising N.D.T. parts
  • Maintain Practical Experience Record (PER) book
  • Adhere to quality, health, safety, and environmental standards

Job Requirements:

  • Educated to at least GCSE level or equivalent
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Good knowledge of health and safety requirements
  • Previous experience in an engineering environment
  • Experience in shot peening or grit blasting is desirable
  • Willingness to follow directions and learn from experienced operatives
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects and stand for extended periods of time
  • Commitment to workplace safety
  • Must have the right to live and work in the UK unrestricted
