Our client, a prominent player in the aerospace sector, is seeking a motivated Trainee Shot Peen Operative to join their aircraft landing gear Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) team. Key Responsibilities:
- Undergo comprehensive training in the principles of shot peening and grit blasting as well as the operation of relevant equipment
- Assist experienced operatives in the setup and operation of shot peening machines
- Learn to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and technical drawings to determine shot peening requirements
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment
- Work collaboratively with team members to meet production goals and deadlines
- Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities
- Maintain a clean workspace, including filter systems and booths
- Optimise production flow, supplying parts to the plating shop and prioritising N.D.T. parts
- Maintain Practical Experience Record (PER) book
- Adhere to quality, health, safety, and environmental standards
Job Requirements:
- Educated to at least GCSE level or equivalent
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Good knowledge of health and safety requirements
- Previous experience in an engineering environment
- Experience in shot peening or grit blasting is desirable
- Willingness to follow directions and learn from experienced operatives
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects and stand for extended periods of time
- Commitment to workplace safety
- Must have the right to live and work in the UK unrestricted
