Our client, a leading aerospace company, is currently seeking a Machine Borer to join their team on a permanent basis. This role involves operating and maintaining boring machines to produce precision aircraft components within specified limits. The ideal candidate will possess significant experience with machining processes, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate all types of boring machines to fine limits.
- Work on own initiative.
- Read and understand technical drawings.
- Take responsibility for work and others.
- Understand types of horizontal boring practices.
- Measure in imperial units.
- Work in accordance with company procedures and regulations.
- Maintain Practical Experience Record (PER) book.
- Train personnel within specified areas, subject to qualifications and experience.
Job Requirements:
- Machining background essential.
- Experience with horizontal boring machines desirable.
- Understanding of IT and machine shop technology.
- Strong initiative and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
- Good communication skills in written and spoken English.
- Capability to perform under pressure.
- Aerospace background preferable but not essential.
Working Conditions:
- Flexible working hours including overtime at weekends.
- Exposure to greases and oils.
- Training and use of overhead cranes.
- Understanding of manual handling.
- Use of hand tools, power tools, ovens, and complex machinery.
- Maintain a clean and tidy working area to a 5S standard.
- Must have the right to live and work in the UK unrestricted.
- Mandatory training required.
- Position and processes involve lifting heavy aircraft components.
