The Opportunity

We are seeking a Compliance Engineer to join our team at our Cwmbran site. In this role, you will strengthen our verification, validation, and compliance capabilities, ensuring our devices and systems meet internal and external standards through robust physical and virtual testing.

This position involves supporting certification projects with third-party agencies, ensuring documentation accuracy, and delivering projects on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute verification, validation, and certification work packages in line with project timelines and budgets.

  • Follow departmental processes, engineering reviews, and best practices.

  • Collaborate with the R&D Engineering team on compliance for both new and legacy Fire Alarm devices and systems.

  • Prepare applications and data packages for submission to test agencies.

  • Support third-party test houses during compliance testing across a range of standards.

  • Assist with preparation for, and participation in, test agency audits.

  • Work with internal/external stakeholders to align on pre-compliance test plans and schedules.

  • Conduct GAP analyses, share findings, and facilitate impact assessments.

  • Monitor emerging engineering practices and relevant British/European Standards and Directives.

  • Transport equipment to test houses, set up systems, perform fault-finding, and support debugging during testing.

  • Approximately 10% travel across Europe to test houses (fully covered).

  • Undertake additional tasks as assigned by the line manager.

Qualifications & Skills

Qualifications

  • HNC/HND or Degree in a relevant engineering discipline

  • Experience in test, verification, and compliance roles

Skills

  • Strong background in electronic and electrical engineering

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Effective problem-solving ability

  • Adaptability in a dynamic environment

  • Strong time management and organisational skills

  • High competency with documentation - compliance documentation is essential

Work Environment

  • Hybrid working: 3 days per week onsite in Cwmbran (non-negotiable)
