Pay rates: Earlies: £35.66 p/h | Lates: £38.21 p/h (PAYE)

Our client is a leading aerospace and defence manufacturer delivering high‑precision structures and assemblies for military platforms. The Military team is expanding to support increased production demand, requiring skilled fitters who can operate to exacting standards in a safety‑critical environment.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Skilled Fitter - Military (AEW&C Assembly Line), you'll strip, repair and assemble complex aircraft structures and components, working to strict technical and military specifications. You'll operate with autonomy, using your AO approval to certify your own work while supporting a fast‑moving production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Hold and maintain AO stamp(s) for authorised operations
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, repair schemes, MPs and technical data
- Work independently with minimal supervision
- Complete work route cards accurately to maintain full traceability
Military-Specific Tasks
- Measure, mark and hand‑fit materials to close tolerances
- Precision drilling, countersinking, reaming and hole finishing
- Assemble using riveting, mechanical fasteners and bonding techniques
- Apply sealing/jointing methods for structural protection
- Assemble pipework for multiple aircraft types
- Conduct alignment, rigging, pressure and functional testing of aircraft control systems
What You'll Need to Succeed
You'll be a skilled hands‑on fitter with strong technical understanding, excellent attention to detail and the ability to work accurately within an aerospace or military‑grade environment.
Essential:
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Engineering/Manufacturing, or time‑served apprenticeship
- Strong literacy, numeracy and IT skills
- Ability to understand and apply technical documentation
- Experience working to 5S / Lean principles
- Strong teamwork, communication and problem‑solving skills
- High accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently
Physical Requirements:
- Some manual lifting involved (support available where required)
Desirable:
- Experience with metallic or composite structural manufacture
- Aerospace or defence manufacturing background
