Our client, a leading consultancy in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a Senior C&I Engineer to join their dynamic team. This permanent position, based in Bristol and Glasgow with flexible hybrid working options, offers an exciting opportunity to engage in a variety of projects across the civil nuclear, defence, renewable energy, and storage systems sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Overseeing C&I projects from concept design through to commissioning.
- Designing innovative process control systems, including associated safety systems.
- Delivering innovation projects, taking new systems and technologies from concept to acceptance.
- Managing production, verification, and approval of electrical reports, specifications, and detailed design drawings.
- Leading a project team to ensure deliverables are met within agreed timelines and budgets.
- Interfacing with clients to develop requirements, negotiate contracts, and manage progress reporting and risk management.
Job Requirements:
Essential Requirements:
- MEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (or equivalent).
- Extensive practical knowledge of process control systems and solid understanding of EC&I documents such as SLDs, P&IDs, BCDs, and schematics.
- Experience developing solutions for safety-critical systems aligned with standards such as IEC 61508, IEC 61511, ISO 13849, DO-178, and DO-254.
- Experience working to the requirements of ISO 9001.
- Mentoring and developing electrical engineers.
- Technical leadership on projects.
Desirable Requirements:
- Experience with platforms such as Siemens TIA Portal, Pilz PAS4000, and Rockwell Studio Logic.
- Formal functional safety certification/accreditation (e.g., TUV Functional Safety Professional).
- Understanding or awareness of Cyber Security standards such as IEC 62443.
- Familiarity with change control and defect tracking tools and processes.
- Chartership.
- Experience interfacing with Regulators such as ONR, DMR, CAA, MAA, Ofgem, ORR, etc.
