Level: Mid-to-Senior Data Engineer

Are you an Azure-focused Data Engineer looking to help shape a modern cloud data platform?
We're hiring an engineer who's passionate about building scalable pipelines, working with the latest Microsoft technologies, and translating complex data into reliable, analytics-ready assets for the business.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing data function that is investing heavily in Azure, Fabric and modern DataOps practices. You'll work across the full lifecycle-from ingestion and transformation through to data products that power reporting, insight, and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain cloud-native data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Fabric Data Factory.

  • Develop robust ELT/ETL workflows across data lakes, warehouses and lakehouse architectures.

  • Optimise and maintain Azure SQL, implementing efficient transformation logic and complex T-SQL queries.

  • Support the build of semantic models and high-quality datasets for analytics and BI teams.

  • Implement best practices in data governance, data quality, security, and GDPR/ISO27001-aligned standards.

  • Monitor, troubleshoot and continuously improve data pipelines using DataOps, CI/CD and version control.

  • Work with architects, analysts and engineers to modernise and simplify the organisation's data estate.

  • Contribute to documentation, metadata catalogues, lineage tracking and data dictionaries.

About You

You'll thrive in this role if you bring:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, and cloud-based data engineering.

  • Experience with Databricks, Synapse, Fabric or similar modern data platform tooling.

  • Solid T-SQL skills and experience transforming complex datasets into usable, scalable structures.

  • Knowledge of data lakes, lakehouses, ELT patterns, dimensional modelling or Data Vault.

  • Understanding of data governance, privacy, and secure engineering principles.

  • Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, or DataOps practices.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.

Desired Background

  • 2-5+ years' experience in data engineering or data platform roles

  • Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Certifications in Azure Data Engineering or cloud technologies (nice to have)

Why Join?

  • Work with a modern Azure tech stack and cutting-edge Fabric capabilities

  • Shape and modernise a growing data platform

  • Collaborative team culture with real influence on engineering direction

  • Strong progression opportunities and investment in your development
