Our client, is currently seeking a dynamic and motivated Public Transport Services Manager to join their team. The role is a permanent position, contributing to the management and development of an integrated and efficient public transport network across the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the commissioning, tendering, and ongoing performance of bus services and passenger transport contracts.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and service standards for public transport services, including community transport.
  • Provide guidance and direction to internal staff and external suppliers, ensuring policy and contractual adherence.
  • Manage significant budgets exceeding £5 million per year.
  • Offer technical advice and services to support corporate initiatives.
  • Advise Members and senior officers on service delivery and policy development.
  • Ensure the delivery of statutory and discretionary services, achieving performance and financial targets.
  • Develop and review policies relating to bus provision, concessionary fares, community transport, ticketing and fares, stakeholder management, and Bus Reform Plans.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in transportation or transport sector, particularly within a public transport context.
  • Understanding of local authority operations and experience working with elected members and officers.
  • Strong project management, partnership, and relationship management skills.
  • Proven leadership and people management capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills to raise the public transport profile.
  • Ability to work across various organisations to coordinate and manage projects.
  • Knowledge of relevant national and local legislation affecting public transport (e.g., Public Service Vehicles regulations, BSOG, SEN transport guidelines).
