A leading defence contractor requires a Senior Subcontract Manager to lead all subcontract management activities on a high-profile training programme for the UK MOD. Applicants should be procurement or commercial leaders, highly skilled in subcontract management, supplier performance and complex contract negotiations in a defence or training environment.
The Senior Subcontract Manager will lead large-scale subcontracting activity on the programme.
Specific duties of the Senior Subcontract Manager include:
- Own and deliver long-term subcontracting strategies (3+ years), while executing short- and medium-term tactical plans (1-2 years) aligned to programme and business objectives
- Manage major subcontractors and suppliers holding large-value contracts (£100m+)
- Lead and develop a team of experienced professionals (including workforce planning) managing complex subcontract portfolios
- Design and implement new processes, standards, and operating models to improve subcontractor performance
- Influence internal and external stakeholders on subcontracting policies, procedures, and best practice
- Manage budgetary elements and contribute to P&L accountability within the subcontracting function
- Oversee supplier selection, negotiation, contract execution, and ongoing performance management
