My client is seeking a diligent Buyer on a contract basis. This role is pivotal in supporting the implementation of category strategies across multiple business areas. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing activities, data analysis, and operational support to maximise the value of the category spend portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake end-to-end sourcing activities for defined areas, in line with Supply Chain processes, using a range of sourcing options including e-auctions.

  • Manage specific sub-categories and/or suppliers, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.

  • Conduct effective supplier onboarding and due diligence activities.

  • Support order management activities, act as the key interface between the category function and Supply Chain Services, and resolve issues efficiently.

  • Provide data and reports to the category team, identifying opportunities for cost savings and transactional efficiencies.

  • Renew outline agreements and create contracts using Ariba.

  • Resolve day-to-day operational supplier-related issues.

  • Act as the front-line Supply Chain Management interface for internal customers and suppliers within the assigned category.

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of Supply Chain processes, building effective relationships with Supply Chain teams and business stakeholders to optimise category performance and deliver value for money across risk, cost, and performance.

  • Actively support Supply Chain projects and initiatives.

Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Personal Qualities:

  • Knowledgeable Supply Chain and Procurement professional with experience using SAP, Ariba, and e-sourcing systems.

  • Experience in indirect category procurement within a centralised procurement function.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

  • Proven experience working with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers.

  • Membership of, or working towards membership of, a relevant professional body (e.g., CIPS).

Skills and Knowledge Include:

  • Effective stakeholder engagement.

  • Tail-end spend management and tactical sourcing, including e-auctions and negotiation.
