Support services business operating within the defence sector require a Procurement Buyer. Applicants should have experience in procurement, ideally as a Buyer (direct or indirect) within a regulated environment; aerospace, defence, or public sector organisation.
The Procurement Buyer will join a multi-disciplined Procurement team providing the business with a full lifecycle procurement offering from; tendering, purchase order management, supplier onboarding/management and contracts management. The Procurement Buyer will support day-to-day execution of procurement operations, alongside contributing to broader commercial and contract management strategies.
Specific duties of the Procurement Buyer include:
- Purchase and Word order placement in SAP
- Front-end sourcing and tendering activities; supplier selection, invitation, tender and evaluation
- Supplier onboarding and due diligence activities
- Managing and monitoring of supplier, supply chain and contracts performance
- Ownership of procurement department data to identify saving opportunities, and strong/poor supplier performance
- Stakeholder engagement - understand procurement strategies and encourage governance and compliance with procurement procedures, policies and systems
Procurement Buyer applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Previous experience in procurement, supply chain, supplier or contract management role
- Experience in or affinity too; aerospace, defence, public sector or engineering industry
- Relationship-building skills, internally with stakeholders and externally with suppliers and supply chain partners
- Previous experience with procurement systems, e-sourcing tools or procurement within a matrix structure
- An appreciation of full lifecycle procurement activities from tendering, negotiations to SRM and contract management
