Avionics Certifying Engineer

Location: Oxford
Hours: 40 hours per week
Reporting to: Installation and Production Manager

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Avionics Certifying Engineer to join our Installations Department in Oxford. This is a certifying role responsible for maintaining the safety and airworthiness of helicopters while they are being customised and maintained.

You will play a key role in overseeing avionics installations, ensuring all work complies with approved data and regulatory requirements, and supporting the successful delivery of projects on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a certifying authority within the Installations Department, reporting to the Installation and Production Manager

  • Work closely with the supervisory team to ensure projects are appropriately resourced and supported

  • Delegate tasks effectively across the team and oversee all assigned work

  • Ensure compliance with approved data and certify or over-sign delegated work where required

  • Liaise closely with Project Management and Design Office teams to support project delivery

  • Oversee the day-to-day running of the avionics team and hangar activities

  • Maintain clear and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders regarding project progress and developments

  • Ensure high standards of Health & Safety are maintained, including correct use of PPE

  • Uphold and enforce hangar rules and best practices

  • Oversee the installation of modifications and changes in accordance with approved data from Airbus Helicopters UK Ltd and third-party STC holders

  • Work in accordance with the organisation's CAA Part 21G and Part 145 approvals, maintaining the highest standards of compliance and workmanship

Requirements

  • Proven experience in an avionics or certifying role within a helicopter or aerospace environment

  • Strong knowledge of CAA Part 21G and Part 145 regulatory requirements

  • Ability to lead, delegate, and oversee technical teams effectively

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance

Security Clearance

Due to the nature of this role, successful candidates must be able to obtain:

  • DBS Security Clearance

  • Security Check (SC) Clearance
