Our client is seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Streetworks Inspector to join their team in maintaining and enhancing the quality of road and street works. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring compliance with the Traffic Management Act 2004 and the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991, supporting the overall mission to provide safe and efficient transport infrastructure.

Job Requirements


To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • Experience with the Traffic Management Act 2004 and the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991.
  • Understanding of the London Permit Scheme (LoPS).
  • Knowledge of Construction (Design and Management) Act regulations.
  • Proficiency in using IT systems such as Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Access, Word).
  • Excellent data management skills.
  • Ability to inspect, record, and report on street works and surface apparatus defects.
  • Experience in producing and managing project documentation within defined technical and budgetary parameters.
  • Good communication skills for interacting with clients, customers, residents, external contractors, and Council Members.

Key Responsibilities


The primary duties include:

  • Supporting technical issues related to Network Management duty and the London Permit Scheme (LoPS).
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation for career development.
  • Inspecting, recording, and reporting on road and street works licences and defects.
  • Managing project documentation and providing timely information for reports to senior managers, committees and council members.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Construction (Design and Management) Act, including risk assessments and asbestos identification.
  • Assisting in managing project timelines and ensuring tasks are executed within budget and technical parameters.
  • Conducting site visits to validate ETON data accuracy and compliance with permit conditions.
  • Issuing notices and raising invoices for permits and fixed penalty notices under the Traffic Management Act 2004.

  • Participate in project groups related to their field of expertise.
  • Offer suggestions for improving service delivery and quality of work.
  • Support the Council's health and safety policies and encourage a non-stressful work environment.
  • Assist in writing complex reports and preparing documentation for various programmes.
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders and assist in public presentations.
  • Maintain professional relationships, ensuring tact and diplomacy at all times.
  • Contribute to policy development on highways and traffic management.
  • Assist with comprehensive project delivery, including site surveys and budgetary control.
