Our client, a leading Formula 1 team, is seeking a skilled Composite Assembly / Trim Technician to join their state-of-the-art Composites Facility in Oxfordshire on a contract basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Precision-trim cured carbon panels using templates, 5-axis jigs, air hacksaws, die-grinders and diamond wheels to ±0.1 mm tolerances
  • Drill, countersink and ream fastener holes in structural monocoque sections and aero devices
  • Bond assemblies with structural adhesives such as Hysol 9394, Araldite 2011, and 3M DP490
  • Fit inserts, brackets, hinges, and quick-release mechanisms using torque-controlled tools
  • Surface-finish Class-A visual carbon (sanding 180 → 2000 grit → micro-mesh → polish)
  • Laser-project ply boundaries and trim lines; verify with Romer arm and GOM ATOS optical scan
  • Complete SAP bookings, cure-cycle logs, and QA sign-off for every serialised part

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in trimming and assembly of pre-preg carbon in F1, F2, WEC or aerospace
  • Proficient in PlyCut, Catia V5 CPD, and Teamcenter for drawing interrogation
  • Certified in Loctite/Huntsman adhesive systems, or willing to complete day-1 training
  • Comfortable in full PPE including airline respirators and nitrile gloves for 8-hour shifts
  • Immediate availability and clean UK driving licence
  • Right to work in the UK (we cannot sponsor visas for this contract)
  • Ability to pass enhanced DBS and non-disclosure vetting
  • Own safety boots; all other PPE and air tools supplied
