Senior Product / Mechanical Engineer | Pitstone | 12-Month Contract
Rate: £60 per hour Umbrella (inside IR35)

Location: Pitstone, UK (fully on-site initially; likely 2 days remote once settled)

Role Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Product Engineer to join a dynamic aerospace engineering team, supporting R&D and R&T programmes in smart motor and power generation technologies. This hands-on role involves developing robust mechanical design solutions, leading work-packages, and supporting a team of engineers to deliver technically sound, cost-effective results.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and deliver engineering work-packages, ensuring designs meet cost, weight, and manufacturing targets
Supervise and support other engineers with design oversight and approvals
Produce and maintain CAD models, drawings, and Bills of Materials
Generate and review design assurance documentation and calculations
Support R&D/R&T projects with investigations and Root Cause Analysis
Mentor and guide junior engineers
Requirements:
Mechanical, Automotive, or Aeronautical Engineering degree (or equivalent experience)
Proven experience delivering engineering work-packages and supervising engineers
Mechanical design experience with rotating equipment (shafts, bearings, seals, structures)
Proficiency in 3D CAD software (CATIA, NX, or equivalent) and MS Office
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Self-motivated, able to work independently and manage time effectively
Baseline security clearance required
Desirable:
Experience with high-speed power generation or motor technologies
Familiarity with PLM tools (Teamcentre, Windchill, SAP)
Understanding of mechatronics/electronics
Experience managing external engineering service suppliers
