Our client, operating within the nuclear sector, is seeking a Technical Author equipped with SC Clearance for a contractual role. The position focuses on preparing, originating, and presenting technical information to provide background, risk, safety, justification, and step-by-step engineering sequences relating to operations, plant, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Document origination and retention using personal knowledge, experience, and research
  • Creation of method statements, risk assessments, and change control documentation
  • Applying relevant engineering or technical principles and methodologies
  • Proofreading and editing documentation to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Preparing and submitting approved documentation under direction
  • Indexing and cataloguing work for safe storage and efficient retrieval
  • Liaising with project team members, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients regarding technical requirements
  • Providing technical input and assisting in the preparation of tenders and bids

Job Requirements:

  • Proven ability to create and develop working documentation such as instructions and procedural changes
  • Experience within a radiological processing or waste handling environment
  • Proficiency in copy editing and ensuring strict cataloguing, recording, and indexing systems
  • Able to liaise effectively with internal and external team members and client representatives
  • Experience in delivering accurate work across several projects simultaneously
  • Ability to plan, organise, and coordinate own work methodically and accurately
  • Familiarity with the AWE 804 system, legal and industry standards, and ISO policies (9001, 14001, 18001) is desirable
  • Competent user of MS Office

Qualifications:

  • Educated to ONC or equivalent level in engineering, communication, or appropriate subjects (Essential)
  • HND or Degree in engineering (Desirable)
  • Membership of appropriate technical/professional body (Desirable)
  • IOSH Working Safely or Level 2 Health & Safety in the Workplace, or equivalent (Relevant training will be provided)
