Sector: Insurance, Financial Services
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

About the role

Matchtech are supporting a high-growth, London-based financial services organisation operating in a highly regulated environment, as they appoint an Infrastructure Manager to take ownership of their IT infrastructure function.

This is a senior, hands-on leadership role responsible for building and continually improving a secure, resilient, and scalable infrastructure estate. You will act as the authority for infrastructure strategy and delivery, working closely with group-level technology stakeholders while retaining autonomy to shape solutions that best serve the business.

Key responsibilities

  • Own and evolve the infrastructure strategy, ensuring alignment with business priorities and wider group technology standards
  • Lead the design, deployment, and ongoing management of core infrastructure services (cloud, server, network, end-user, and security platforms)
  • Ensure high levels of availability, scalability, performance, and cyber security through proactive monitoring and capacity planning
  • Act as an infrastructure authority for projects, providing consultancy, design assurance, and technical governance
  • Develop and maintain domain architecture standards and repeatable infrastructure frameworks
  • Oversee third-party suppliers: procurement support, contract governance, performance management, and service assurance
  • Strengthen operational resilience, disaster recovery, and business continuity capabilities
  • Drive continuous improvement across infrastructure architecture, tooling, and processes
  • Produce and present infrastructure performance updates, risk assessments, and improvement roadmaps to senior stakeholders and committees
  • Work closely with security, risk, and compliance teams to ensure alignment with UK regulatory expectations

Experience and background

  • Proven experience (over 5 years) in an Infrastructure Manager, Infrastructure Lead, or similar senior role
  • Background within insurance, financial services, or another regulated environment
  • Strong technical breadth across cloud platforms, networks, servers, identity, and end-user services
  • Solid understanding of infrastructure security, resilience, and regulatory obligations
  • Experience managing third-party technology partners and service providers, managing the contract negotiation and performance delivery
  • Confident stakeholder manager, able to communicate complex technical topics clearly to non-technical audiences
  • Comfortable operating in an environment balancing group oversight with accountability
  • Degree in IT, Computer Science, or related discipline
