This is a client-facing role where you will lead projects, provide technical expertise, and ensure the successful delivery of electrical engineering solutions within the rail sector. You will work closely with Directors, clients, and multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative designs, oversee construction activities, and maintain compliance with all relevant legislation, standards, and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical engineering design and review work, ensuring quality and compliance.
- Act as Project Lead on electrical projects, managing deadlines and client expectations.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers, promoting professional development.
- Prepare and present designs, reports, calculations, and specifications.
- Conduct technical reviews and ensure adherence to project standards.
- Interface with clients and other disciplines (Civils, SISS, Architecture, Track, Signals), chairing and minuting key meetings such as IDC/IDR.
- Undertake site inspections and produce clear, concise reports.
- Manage project programmes, budgets, and change controls, delivering projects on time and within scope.
- Act as CRE (as required by Network Rail or TOC) and assist with project assurance submissions.
- Support resource planning, business development, and compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Travel and work flexible hours, including night shifts where necessary.
What We're Looking For
- Experience: Minimum 8+ years in electrical design within the rail sector, including multidisciplinary coordination and site supervision.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Bentley AECOsim, Amtech, Relux/Dialux.
- Strong understanding of BIM Level 2 and project deliverables.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead projects, mentor junior staff, and manage client relationships.
- Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of MEP design and interdisciplinary processes.
- Qualifications:
- Minimum HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering (degree preferred).
