Our client in the public sector is currently seeking a Principal Officer Implementation to join their Transport Development Planning Team on a contract basis. This role is pivotal in ensuring the delivery of an integrated transport development planning service within the Planning Service. The primary focus is on working with developers to lead the delivery of third-party highway schemes, ensuring they are appropriately designed and implemented while minimising disruption and maintenance burden.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage complex work matters with competing deadlines and provide policy and legal guidance.
- Support customers and team members with complex enquiries, mentoring, and training.
- Maintain expertise in relevant legislation and serve as a subject matter expert.
- Offer professional advice to internal and external customers, including preparing publications.
- Deputise for the line manager and attend external meetings as needed.
- Handle customer complaints and appeals following local procedures.
- Monitor and manage local budgets effectively.
- Independently manage projects, ensuring delivery of objectives and stakeholder engagement.
- Oversee small to medium contracts, ensuring value for money and resolving issues.
- Ensure policies and regulations are followed, developing local policies in response to changes in legislation.
- Plan and organise long-term programmes of work, ensuring resource efficiency and safety.
- Provide management data and reports to senior management.
- Develop and maintain professional networks and relationships with external organisations.
- Review service provision and implement improvements to local systems.
Job Requirements:
- Experience in Planning, Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, or Geographic Information Systems.
