Our client is seeking a Senior Technician - Construction to join their team on a contract basis. This role supports the Transport Development Planning Team (TDP) in delivering integrated transport development planning services. The main focus is ensuring compliance with highway works and construction standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure highway works and new estate roads by developers comply with the relevant specifications and agreements (Section 38 or Section 278).
- Approve and license minor highway works under Section 171, Highways Act.
- Manage workload with competing deadlines, providing advice on policy, legal, and regulatory issues.
- Support customers and team members with complex enquiries and escalations.
- Develop knowledge in relevant legislation to provide expert advice and guidance.
- Produce written advice and information for various stakeholders.
- Deputise for the line manager and attend external meetings as required.
- Respond to customer complaints and improve local policies, procedures, and systems.
- Plan and organise work programmes and allocate tasks within the team.
- Provide management data and reports to senior management.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Independently manage projects, maintaining documentation and reporting progress to project sponsors.
- Act as a local subject matter expert, holding a complex workload and providing support to the team.
- Manage small to medium contracts, monitor large contracts and ensure compliance and value for money.
Job Requirements:
- Experience in Planning, Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography or Geographic Information Systems.
- Ability to plan and organise varied workloads, meeting multiple deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and initiative.
- Excellent communication skills, adaptable to various audiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively and develop professional relationships.
- Significant customer service experience with effective customer-facing skills.
- Proficient in ICT, including Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word).
- Knowledge of Data Protection regulations and an ability to deal with sensitive information.
