About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on Production Technician to contribute to the build, testing, and maintenance of advanced radar systems. The role includes practical electronics work, fault finding, prototype assembly, and technical work with production and engineering colleagues, as well as occasional site visits with customers and suppliers.
You will take part in assembling and testing radar units, maintaining records, assisting with field trials, and improving production processes in a modern technical environment.
Key Tasks
Provide technician assistance to production and, when required, the engineering team
Test and configure radar systems
Repair and maintain electronic radar systems as part of production and RMA activities
Assemble and test prototype radar systems and sub-assemblies
Maintain documentation and change control in line with company processes
Design and/or build prototype test jigs and assemblies
Inspect and test goods to IPC standards
Work with Contract Electronic Manufacturers (CEMs) and attend regular meetings
Take part in field trials and demonstrations (usually local, sometimes national, rarely international)
Provide occasional on-site assistance at customer and supplier locations
Ensure lab facilities, tools, and equipment are functional, calibrated, and compliant with ESD procedures
Keep work areas organised, safe, and tidy
Key Accountabilities
Organise and prioritise workload within the production cell
Review allocated jobs and align timescales with the line manager
Complete assigned tasks within set timeframes
Share progress and outcomes with the line manager
Follow quality standards and processes and contribute to ongoing improvement
Maintain an orderly and well-organised work environment
Measures of Success
Tasks are completed within set timeframes and progress is communicated clearly
Skills and Experience
Essential:
Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to technical work
Experience working with advanced electrical and electronic devices
Engineering knowledge with awareness of standard electrical laboratory practices
Practical skills in building, repairing, and modifying electronic and/or electromechanical equipment
A cooperative, relationship-building approach when working with others
Desirable:
Fault diagnosis down to component level
Experience completing NCR investigations
Low-level software scripting skills
Knowledge of RF systems
Qualifications
HNC or higher in Electronics or Electrical Engineering
