The Role

We are seeking an Electronic Systems & Sensors Engineer to join the Space Delivery Team, supporting the delivery of a portfolio of high-profile and nationally significant space programmes.

The team delivers complex space-related capabilities for UK Space Command and the Cyber & Space Operating Centre (CSOC), covering both ground-based and space-based assets, including support to Op Scorpius.

Reporting to the Chief Engineer, you will take ownership of requirements generation and lead the design of electronic systems and sensors, balancing performance, cost, and schedule constraints across the full lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Requirements Management:
    Own the generation of Electronic Systems & Sensors (ESS) requirements, defining technical deliverables and maintaining system documentation, including in-service support considerations.

  • Design Authority:
    Act as design authority for systems, components, or processes, ensuring solutions meet customer and operational requirements.

  • Risk Management:
    Identify, analyse, and document technical risks and hazards, contributing to the development of effective risk mitigation strategies.

  • Verification & Validation:
    Manage ESS testing, verification, validation, and evaluation activities to ensure systems meet defined requirements and performance standards.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Qualifications: A STEM qualification at RQF Level 4 or above.

  • Technical Delivery: Broad and in-depth experience providing technical advice and delivering successful electronic or mechatronic engineering outcomes.

  • Professional Registration: Professionally registered, or eligible for registration, as IEng, RSci, or an equivalent (e.g. CPhys, RMarTech).

Desirable:

  • Space Domain Experience: Experience providing technical advice related to space technologies or space systems.

  • Delivery Environment: Experience working in a fast-paced, delivery-focused environment.
