Our client, a leader in the highways sector, is currently seeking a Schemes Delivery Manager to join their team on a contract basis. This is an exciting opportunity to oversee various sub-contractors and operative activities, working across several workstreams within the business. You will play a pivotal role in overseeing health and safety standards, managing programme progress, and minimising environmental impacts on construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain programmes for schemes ensuring work is carried out safely, on time, to budget, and in accordance with HSEQ standards.
  • Efficiently organise labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor resources.
  • Liaise with stakeholders, including network managers, local authorities, community groups, and designers, to deliver schemes successfully.
  • Ensure Construction Phase Plans, method statements, and safe systems of work are in place before starting work, maintaining safety standards at all times.
  • Ensure all site personnel, both in-house and subcontractors, are competent and fully trained to undertake their work.
  • Engage with commercial teams and take responsibility for the commercial performance of projects.
  • Keep accurate records, including a site diary, records of work activities, resource allocations, and as-built information.
  • Support the Area Manager in developing construction programmes, phasing plans, and method statements.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in the highways sector.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety standards in construction.
  • Proficiency in managing and maintaining construction programmes.
  • Excellent organisational skills for labour, materials, and equipment management.
  • Effective communication skills for liaising with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of construction phase planning, method statements, and safe systems of work.
  • Ability to maintain comprehensive and accurate project records.
  • Experience in engaging with commercial teams and managing project performance.
